Microsoft Corp., the makers of Windows and perennial leader in the world of computer software, are trying to further their mark on the video game console industry, with the release of the original Xbox a few years ago, and now the newer model – the Xbox 360. This console is seen by many to either place Microsoft among the serious contenders in the industry or be passed off as riding along with the bandwagon.

The release of the new video game consoles from makers like Sony and Nintendo has long been awaited, as has the Xbox 360, which is a direct competitor of the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. The success of the original Xbox was somewhat unexpected, since Microsoft was a relatively new contender then, but many eyes are focused on the Xbox 360 and how much better it is compared to the original Xbox.
